Normally I would hesitate to contradict a "first-hand" source of information,
but I thought that the TR4 (car in question) bodies were actually painted and
trimmed (in Liverpool?) and then shipped to Coventry for mating with a built
chassis.
Of course, I don't have any Triumph resources in front of me, so maybe I'm
having a senior moment?
What you say is essentially true about the Herald and derivatives, of course!
