Yup, Ken's a helluva guy !

The original gears were drilled such that reversing them back-to-front would
adjust the timing by 1/4 tooth; and using the other pair of holes would
change it by 1/2 tooth, thus allowing timing to 1/4 tooth.  The mis-cut ones
come out the same no matter which side is front, meaning you can only set
timing to 1/2 tooth.  Since a tooth is about 16 degrees, this is an
appreciable error.

But that's for the TRactor motor, I still don't know if it applies to 6-pot
TRs.
