Might be a good time to mention ... J-types were also used in many other
cars (like Triumph saloons, Volvos and even MGB) which contributes to the
supply. However, the units used in these other cars were not of the same
configuration as the TR6 units, they typically have different rear mounts,
different speedo drive ratios, different operating pressures and in some
cases, different gear ratios. Beware the many sellers on eBay who chose to
ignore these differences !
Even a complete Triumph transmission may have come from a saloon or a Stag.
The conversion can be done, but it's a PITA.
