Hi! What a surprize to see someone else having problems with a Triumph S.2500
The trouble i have got is far worse. My S has a just rebuilt motor,a sports
cam,
{ PI } and a PI head. The S starts very good but when you open throtle the
engine revs up but then dies back with a very different exhaust sound, very
flat and dead.To cut a long story short i have had the carbs off 3
times, did find by pouring petrol over the carb flange a change in engine
revs.Put on a vacum gauge and got 15 at idle.Tonight i changed the inlet
manifold, more new gaskets and this S will still not rev over 3000 revs. What
i find is at a fast idle with this dead sound i push down the dash pots the
engine runs better,as if the dash pots are raising up to far.The poppet
valves on my carbs are soldered closed.
My next step is to checked the compressions,by turning over by hand they
seem to be fine. With the changed inlet manifold i am getting small back
fires this is new so iam wondering if i have more than one problem.
When i first had the unusal exhaust sounds and no reves i wondered if i had
a blocked exhaust system,so off it came with no fault found. What i am
wondering is, does the sealed jet tube fail? also i have blocked all the
hoses, this makes no difference.I now wonder do i have a cracked head
between ports.Timing is correct, have not checked the coil,as i have said
before starts easy. The plugs are real black. What next to do.
Ashley.
