Hi Tom,
I just finished installing a rack & pinion in my TR3A today. I bought
the British Auto Restorations kit, which I believe is the "Protech" kit from
UK. It was not cheap (about $975 delivered). It looks great and went in
easily. It appears very tight. It took about 6 man hours to put in. My
engine is currently out of the car, which made the conversion easy.
I also put in close tolerance polyurathane steering column bushings
that I bought from RevintonTR.com. Again, looks great and went in easily,
not cheap (but not too expensive).
I am putting my engine back in this week and should be driving in a
couple of more weeks. I can let you know then if it was worth it. At first
glance, it look like it is well worth the time and effort.

Subject: Steering question?
I know there are a couple of companies that make pack and pinion
conversion kits for the TR3A. Is there anyone on the list that has
installed one of these in their car? Thanks.
