I can't say with certainty that a paint job using contemporary 
materials will cost you in a concours. One thing to consider, 
however, is environmental regulations. I know in this part of the 
world, body shops no longer use solvent-based paints (acrylic enamel 
and lacquer) due to air pollution regs. That in itself may take away 
the choice.
