Hi Bob:
Are you trying to put the same old washer onto the original mainshaft from
this gearbox, or have you changed the mainshaft? There are early and late
style mainshafts for the 3 syncro gearboxes, and I suspect you're trying to fit
the early triangular washer to a late mainshaft. The quickest way to tell them
apart is that the front of the early mainshaft rides in a bushing (inside the
input shaft), and is a larger diameter than the front of a later mainshaft
which rides in a roller bearing. The input shaft, main shaft, and rear washer
(at least in the case of the triangle version) must all be matched to the
early/late types to fit together and work.
