Got the same on my TR4A.........They are probably half gone at 15,000 miles,
but then that's five years......so.........at my rate of usage........they
will need to be replaced before they wear out...........I thing the rubber is
nice and soft..........which makes it hold the road, very, very,
well!!!........If you drive like me.......I think you will be
pleased............May the 'TR
Gods Above' prevail upon Dunlop to keep making them....... If
available........I will certainly buy them again!!!
The trouble is always.........getting them balanced, if you have wire
wheels!!!.......must be done on the car, the old fashioned way or sent to
someone
with the special equipment to do that.......Your local tire shop will say, "Oh,
sure, we can do that"......they will then fiddle around, try to chuck it up on
their balancer....come up with something.......say, "See!...we can do
it!".......ask them to turn the wheel 90 degrees on the balancer.....and try
again........they will be surprised......but you won't.....cause you know they
can't do
it!.........
My solution......takes time and possibly a bit of increased cost........is
to.....dismount the tires......send the wire wheels to a guy in CA........where
he checks them, mounts the tires you want.....balances them with a special
mandrel on his machine........UPS's them back to you........No state
tax.......here that's 8.5%. Have used him for the last five years........he
used to work
for British Wire Wheels........but went out on his own when they moved and
changed operations.........He can also do striping......red......etc......
If you would like his name, etc.. ...............let me know!
