Hi Folks
Well we went and collected the Spitfire today, Further to my request about
the hard top seals, I think the seals only need re fixing to the hard top, I
hadn't seen the top, we bought the car without even knowing about the hard
top, it was part way through the deal when the PO said about the hard top
needing new seals!
Well before leaving with our new toy I neatly folded the hood down and
stowed it properly and then departed for home, it was a glorious 16 mile
drive cold but bright and dry, what a lovely thing to do, a real tonic!
I did discover a couple of things not detectable when test driving with the
owner in the car, the engine will need new bearings next winter and there is
either a bearing or UJ gone on the rear, and the gearbox is a bit noisy but
as it is non OD and I have an OD box, none of this is a big deal really.
I never really worry about mechanicals, and the body is real good, just a
few small areas starting to show, a little TLC needed, hopefully we will be
able to do that next winter after enjoying through the summer!
