Thank you, Jim. In the true spirit of 'political correctness' one never
mentions Ford and any Coventry made product in the same breath. After a
certain incident between Harry Ferguson and Ford, it is alleged he never
later said Ford in any breath :)
But take heart, there aren't many TR's that will move a five ton trailer of
hay bales off a facing slope in second gear, spin out potatoes or lift their
own weight with hardly a grunt of protest from the engine. Long live
Fergies.

...When you start to peel away the covers the similarity ends quickly. This
is
a Volvo design and you can tell by the engineering. Since it was also used
for heavy duty tractor use (another similarity to the Ford-Ferguson tractor
that used the Vanguard engine)...
===========================
Whoa there!!! - a tiny detail to most of you maybe, but I have to chime in
here
to defend the "Ferguson" tractor, which used a derivative of the Vanguard
engine. The "Ford-Ferguson" tractor was a Ford, that used a flathead four,
essentially half of a Ford V8 engine from the 30s. It was called "Ford-
Ferguson" as it was a "Ford", with the "Ferguson system" (of implement
attachment).
(Ferguson owners are sensitive to having their machines mistaken for Fords -
kind of like having your TR mistaken for an MG - gasp...)
