On a TR3 with the stock dizzy cap, carbon-core wires will not last worth a
tinker's dam. The carbon burns around where the screws in the cap pierce
the center conductor.
I personally use a set of tinned copper core wires with integral suppression
resistors in the plug boots, but AFAIK they are no longer available. The
new spiral-wound suppression wires would probably be the best choice today
if you don't want to run the original wire setup.
