Fw: Anybody know what this is?

Ken,
I have this extra weight on my standard tranny but my overdrive tranny does 
not have it (and I figure it is plenty heavy enough without it) but I have seen 
other people's overdrive trannies with the extra weight.
Do I need the weight on an already extra heavy overdrive tranny?

Fred, It is indeed a dead weight. The factory's attempt to solve
a harmonics problem. It works too.
