Greetings everyone...
I've been away from the list for a while. Many of you may remember that
about a year ago I started the process of rebuilding the engine in my TR4.
Well, to make a long story short, it's done. I ended up have the engine
professionally rebuilt after I completed all of the disassembly work (I've
always been better at taking things apart than putting them back together).
Anyway, I started the car up for the first time a couple of days ago and ran
it. Everything went well.
Now I have a somewhat unrelated question. Please see the following link:

Note the object clamped to the rear of my transmission and linked back to
the strap connecting the shifter extension on the transmission to the rear
mount. Does anyone know what the heck this thing is? The object hanging
below appears to simply be a dead weight. I can't for the life of me figure
out what the purpose of the thing is, nor can I find any reference to it in
any of my TR4 related literature.
I've put off asking about this for some time for fear of embarrassment, but
it's been driving me crazy. Please help! :)
