I have to say there are LOTS of better places to find information on our
cars than from someplace like Nada Guides - this list, your workshop
manual, Bill Piggott's books, just to name a few.

That Nada Guides website is wrong with respect to the original
availability of the OD on the TR4/4A (they also don't list wire wheels
as an option either) - where do they get their information anyway? Of
course the TR4 and 4A were available with OD - that's where the O at the
end of the commission numbers comes from!

Interesting that, according to Nada, a complete surrey top assembly adds
only $400-1200 to the value of your car, depending on the 'low retail'
or 'high retail', yet it can cost you over $2000 to get one. Again,
where do they get this information? Some MG group???

My two cents on the OD question - no question - do it!

I put the O/D in my 250. Love it. You can get onto the highway going
through all 7 gears, if you want to. I use 2nd overdrive through the
subdivision. I have lower profile tires than stock, and for trips (say
to the VTR) it's just so much less work for the car. OD apparently
wasn't available for your 4, but for my 250 it adds $550-$1,075 to the
value, depending on the overlall quality of the car. You can get this
type of information at www.nadaguides.com.

If you plan to keep this car for a few years and get out & about in it,
you'll be glad you did the overdrive.
