hi Justin
You may also want to check for the dreaded "thrust washer dropout syndrom"
which is an unfortunate malady peculiar to the triumph 6 and of which sudden
loss of clutch function is a symptom. If the thrust washer at the rear of
the crankshaft becomes sufficiently worn, it can fall out (into the sump),
resulting in excessive fore/aft movement of the crank - enough to use up all
the cluth throw (and can cause serious damage to the thrust face on the
crank if not remedied fairly promptly). Quite easy to check: Using a wooden
block and pry bar, push the pully on the front of the crank back towards the
block, then move the pry bar between the block and pully and apply force
forward on the pully - if the pully/crank moves more than a few thou' (the
thrust washer is about a tenth of an inch thick, factory specs are .006 to
.008 end float) it's time to pull the sump and investigate more.
cheers
Scott
