Ladies & Gents -
I need some help. My wife is sick of the rusty piece of "junk" (her words)
sitting in the garage - which I am trying to turn into a V8 powered middle
age crisis. She gave the tentative go ahead for me to acquire a relatively
rust free car to drive then work on in the winter - rather than just keep
working. We will have to see how far we can stretch the budget, but it's
worth a try..
I found one which some of the ISOA guys might know.. It's a white TR3B -
TCF 1583L.
Preliminary investigation seems to indicate that it's pretty rust free, the
brakes need work, steering is incredibly tight (is this normal though?) and
at least one of the wires is very wobbly. It's a cute car and bears the
Illinois Sport Owners Assoc. badge (sorry guys I need to rejoin!!). I need
to get it up on the jack and check the underside... The car dealer who took
it for a trade claims the engine was recently rebuilt and that there are
8,600 miles on it..
There are lots of things that need fixing - like the windshield seal - but
nothing that is the end of the world. Did not get a good feel for the
mechanicals as I was in my suit - can check those later. No obvious rattles
etc..
Does anyone have any history?
He's asking $11,900 prior to negotiation which is really a bit much for me..
Let me know if that's a ball park price. He showed me some book that said
a "Fair" example would be 11,700 but I think that's a bit of a lame place to
start...
Thanks for the help
