Graham,
Dick Taylor had me feeling good and now I'm doubting again. Dick wrote:
"The lip should face the direction that the oil or grease is coming
from.", which makes sense to me, and is the way I installed the new oil
seals.
So that we're all on the same page, the lip of the oil seals are facing
out, away from the engine. Since the grease is in the hub, the lip is
facing the bearings and hub.
Is that what you meant?

Hi Jim
If I have understood your description correctly then you have them the
wrong way round as the purpose is to keep the grease in rather than
stuff out! The plain side should be facing outwards if my little askey
pic works, the
lower bit of the picture should face out. [__> <__]
Hope this helps.
Graham.
