You might try simply wrapping an old intact fan belt around the pulley and
squeezing it to try to hold the pulley still. You might also try an oil filter
wrench. Possibly you could capture the pulley carefully in the jaws of a bench
vise, "insulated" with wood or even that old fan belt, to try to
avoid/minimize damage to the pulley. As I recall, it shouldn't take a
monstrous effort to
loosen that nut.
