Well, I guess I had better get involved - maybe Upstate California ain't so
bad after all!! I live in a small college town, on .9 acres, 2300 sq. ft
house, large barn, pool, etc; I don't have to lock my doors, my tools stay
where I leave them (unless the kids use them), education is OK (the kids can
stay at home and go to college), teen pregnancy is down, life is pretty
good, and the most excitement right now is when the racoons and possum
compete over the garbage can. My prop taxes are about $1800 per year. But
then, we have a 7+% sales tax, and Gov. Davis, and no budget! The rest of
the state doesn't seem to care about us, unless the price of food goes up,
or there is a drought year, and the cities want our water. But, rest
assurred, this is not an invitation to move here, just visit and leave your
money!
