Thread-topic: TR4 overheating
I just want to thank everyone who responded to my post.

Our mechanic came to the house last Saturday and we discovered that the car
didn't even have a thermostat. This was what was causing the engine to
overheat at speed.

This is really a great list!

Maraming salamat! (Thank you!)

Thanks, Carl for the great explanation. I discovered several things
yesterday:

The thermostat in my TR4 was an ordinary one.
The pile of spares I got with the car contained a brand-new ordinary one and
an original sleeved one.
The saucepan test showed the both worked well and at the same temps.

It did not take a rocket scientist to figure out my next move: Put the
sleeved one in the car!
I spent the day installing in the Triumph a new radiator (really an original
radiator off Ebay for 32 bucks, professionally cleaned and painted for about
twice that) and a switch-controlled electric fan.

Now we think we can finally drive slowly enough to hang out with the
street-rod
cruisers.

We drove the Triumph to dinner at Billabong with the britcar folks. Seems
the anti-overheating regimen is working.

Thanks for all the advice, folks!
