My CF52678U (January 1976) is also red. I do have to say that I've not seen
green ones before. The lens is red, but the light bulb is white.

Chip, mine are red (~CF53000). The red glow was so bright at night that I
took a black sharpie and painted the end of the bulb facing out to dim the
light. Its much better now.
