Well this week I completed the repairs to the frame, much more damage
than originally thought. We fabricated most of rear end using some 3x3
angle iron. Using several C-clamps, some heat from a torch, and by
cutting some notches into the angle, by doing this we were able to make
it contour to the existing mainrail. I am very pleased with the results
of the repairs. The chassis is much stronger and the repair is not very
noticeable.
Once completed, I applied POR15 to the entire chassis, just before the
POR dried; I applied a couple of coats of Urethane sealer. This morning
I applied two coats of paint to the frame. Tonight I just completed
brushing on some POR to the leaf spring, the Diff and its mounting
brackets. It sure does look good and now I can begin installing all the
new bushes, hoses and shocks.
