Assuming you saw that the return spring inside the MC was not broken, I
wouldn't guess that to be a MC problem.  There are numerous other things
they can do wrong, but they all involve leaking, or not holding/releasing
pressure.  But with your foot off the clutch, there should be no pressure to
leak, and your complaint doesn't seem to be a lack of release.

I would be looking closer at the slave.  I don't recall when the changeover
is, but I'm assuming you have the earlier setup with an adjustable pushrod
and a return spring, like my TR3A does.  Make sure it's adjusted properly,
and the return spring is in good shape.  If you find the clearance is huge
and out of the range of adjustment, you've probably got a broken taper pin.
