80 tr7 trunk lift

i have finally received the lever assembly that holds the trunk lid up.  was
missing from car when i got it.  i was surprised to see it is the same type as
the hood.  the only thing i do not know is, how does it attach to the car ?
can anyone tell me where it goes / how it goes on ?  i did not see a mount
point / bracket in the trunk.
