The Toluene is supposed to offer octane boost. Mineral sprits would probably
lower octane. trans fluid ( ATF? ) would lower the octane and cause carbon
deposits because it is not supposed to be burnt.
A friend tried Toluene on his 70 Buick Grand Sport ( 454 high compression
engine) with good results. The only down side seems to be that marginal
rubber components will deteriorate.
