List,
I am almost done with my sheetmetal repair and am shopping around for
media/sandblasting for my tub on the inner panels. I found a shop that
specializes in removing paint and rust from collector cars. He had a really
nice '55 Chevy convertible he had just done which looked really nice. He had
media blasted the outer fenders to keep the heat down. The inside of the tub
had been sandblasted, mostly for rust removal.
Looked really nice, the bad news is he wants $800.00 to do just the tub on
my TR4A.
I have tried the wire wheel method, the chemical stripping method, both of
which are very time consuming and have their drawbacks too. I think $800.00
seems a bit steep. Could be wrong, I don't know. I am in the Cincinnati,
Ohio area so if anybody knows of someplace within driving distance of me who
is a little more reasonable, I would greatly appriciate it.
PS. Not planning on doing anything until spring so I can prime it
immediately after blasting to inhibit rust.
Thanks,
Dave
