I would go with SU's for sure. They are easy to tune and "look right." Parts
for SU's are easy to come by including brand new complete sets. The early
Strombergs are big and clunky looking to me. I have a couple of sets that I
picked up real cheap so I could steal the adjustable jets to retrofit to the
later fixed jet Strombergs. If they are anything like the later carbs they
are a pain to tune. Not sure about parts availability but the one TR4 guy I
know that is running Strombergs has had a heck of a time finding floats that
float. His TR smokes a lot TOO! So SU's 1 ----- Strombergs 0.
