Hi all - I asked for more info on an ad for a TR2 chassis - part of the
response follows, and I have a couple of further questions for the list:
What's a Singer?
Where can I find a list to date the engine commission #? ( Seems high for a
'55?)
My TR2 seems to have drums on the front - wouldn't having calipers be
unusual?
Here's the extract from the response for my request for more info re the ad:
"I bought a 1952 Singer. The Singer was not a true Singer it was a Sing-umph.
Not knowing anything about
Singers, and really only wanting the body for a hot rod project, I
bought it. When it arrived I noticed the Triumph engine. I had a TR4
many years ago. Upon closer inspection I realized it was a complete
Triumph chassis underneath. I had noway of knowing anything about the
vehicle except by the engine serial number and pictures in a parts
catalog. I first advertised it as a TR3. Then a chap, who restored cars,
came by looking for TR3 parts, he read the engine number ( TS69039E )
looked in his book and said it was a 1955 TR2. It is also missing the front
calipers."
Thanks for your insights...
