1. There is a website now where a fellow is collecting all the articles
pertaining to the Shell 4000 trans-Canada rallies of the 60s. The rally named
so as to reflect the distance covered (in miles! - we weren't metric yet).
The articles are quite big to download so watch it if you're on a slow modem.
The 1964 Car and Driver article, in which the author was asked to pilot one of
the three TR4s entered as a team by Standard Triumph, is one I would recommend.
2. Targa Newfoundland, which was run last September (2200 kilometers), has
produced a TV special which will be airing a one-hour synopsis of the event on
Saturday Jan 25th at 9 pm Eastern time (9:30 in NF) on Global, for those of you
who can get that network. Local Newfoundland satellite television station NTV
will be airing the program on January 25th as well, at 7:30pm Newfoundland
Standard Time (6pm ET).
For more information about this event see: http://www.targanewfoundland.com/
Now if you go to that site and check the photo section, you will see that quite
a selection of LBCs competed: Mini, A-H, Jaguar, MGA, MGB, Sunbeam - hey! No
Triumphs!
I hope a Triumph driver will enter someday and show those other guys how to
drive. (Alas it won't be me in the forseeable future as my car isn't finished,
I don't have the money, and I don't have any time as I have over-extended
myself into other projects....)

Jim (ralliest wanna-be) Wallace
