Good point. Seems that the DPO DID NOT install any filter in the line
at all. I did yesterday, but I probably have "gjunk" in the carbs from
normal use since the car was acquired. Time to get the air hose out,
eh?

Thanks,

Don't know if this is your case but I had a similar problem a couple
of years ago and it was carb/fuel related. Had to do with some rust in
the fuel tank, so small that it looked like very, very fine orange
sand. I found some in the float chambers so you might want to take
them off and at least look at them. What I did after cleaning them out
was to get a clear plastic fuel filter to replace the one under the
hood, and another larger fuel filter that filters as small as 4
microns. I think this originally came from a Volvo dealer but you can
get them much cheaper at a local parts store. I may still have the box
if you're interested in a part number. I installed mine in the fuel
line below the driver's seat. I change both filters once a year
whether the symptoms return or not, and I have not head the symptoms
you refer to since I installed the newer 4 micron filter.

Good luck
