Hope you are all enjoying / enjoyed Thanksgiving.
A question for those in the know. I met an old friend of mine today, he
works for an engine improver which is just going into the cad cam field and
he asked me if there were any projects I could think of which involve
castings as this is the precise area that he specialises in and the new
equipment will need a shake down project! He mentioned the Le Mans Spitfire
head, am I correct in thinking this was for the 1147cc engine, and cross
flow to boot? If so does anyone know how much other unique content there was
involved with fitting this head?
Next question,
Are there any castings needed for any of the cars that are stopping
restorations, as in if this bit is broken you either have to have one or
know where to get one or you can forget restoring that one?
It just seems to me that as my friend wants to make a contribution to the
classic scene (which he enjoys with a Herald and Spitfire and in the past
Dolomites as well,) it would be best to start with something which is really
needed not just a fancy tuning mod!
