I bought a _hydraulic_ scissor jack at Wal-Mart for $15-$20. It has a 1 ton
hydraulic ram which operates the scissors. It's a pleasure to operate
compared to a normal screw driven jack. Once the car is up you engage a fat
safety pin so you can work under the car without fear of hydraulic failure.
The jack fits under my TR6 boot floor but I have a compact spare (on a TR3
rim) so your mileage may vary.
