Rob,
Interesting point about aftermarket TR rear seal.
I hope your new TRF instructions meant to drill two extra drain holes near
the existing ones already there in the rear cap for added drain capacity and
not to drill into main bearing shells!
Adding two more drains to supplement existing ones would have no effect on
oil pressure circuit or oil pressure at your bearing but would allow oil
seepage from rear main bearing to fall into pan faster - perhaps that's what
instructions meant about reducing oil pressure at rear seal. There are two
drain holes there already - the first one is big diameter with a tube insert
aimed toward pan to drain majority of oil from bearing seep, the second drain
hole, quite narrow - collects oil that gets past first lip of aluminum seal
and routes it to oil pan as well. I would think drilling the two extra holes
near the existing narrower drain hole would be most logical.
Please keep us up to date on this topic.

Has anybody fit the Land Rover conversion rear oil seal? I just bought one
from TRF and the "Revised Instructions" call for drilling two extra 3/8 inch
holes in the bottom of the rear main cap. This is supposed to relieve
unnecessary oil pressure from the back of the seal. I'm not so sure this is a
good idea as it might starve the rear main of oil. Any comments? b Rob
