Greetings again to the Triumph List,

I've resolved my problem with the mild steel front muffler that didn't fit
by replacing it with a stainless steel muffler from The Roadster factory.

The box portion of the stainless steel muffler is two or three inches
shorter at the forward end and a little smaller in cross section so that the
pipe can go all the way into the header pipe and far enough forward to clear
the differential housing without first hitting the frame. I am still using
the mild steel rear muffler which mates to the stainless steel front muffler
without a problem.

I spoke to Dave on the Technical Research Dept. line at TRF and he told me
that they have had another mild steel muffler returned recently because of
fitting problems. He took the time to measure the stainless steel muffler
for me and authorized the return of the mild steel muffler. Everyone I've
had contact with at TRF has been eager to help me resolve this problem.

Many thanks to everyone on this list who replied to my original question
with helpful information and friendly advice! My TR now purrs like a
kitten!

Thanks again,
Dave Easton
