My wife hates automatics. I agree.
Then again, she hates cruise-control, too. I like cruise control and use it
on the Saturn. Sue always turns the switch off when she drives the car.
My daughters had to learn to drive on sticks because we didn't have any
automatics. The younger daughter is at Marlboro College in Vermont. One
night, some guys who worked at a camp got permission to use a camp truck to
go to a movie. They had to get Beth to drive them because none of them
could drive the stick-shift truck. No problem for Beth.
We have the ex-dad Suburban now. First automatic vehicle I have ever owned.
Sue hates to drive it. Not because it is rusty (for those who saw it, and
even rode in it, at VTR1998: it is four years rustier now, as you will see
at VTR2002), not because it is huge, but because it has an automatic
transmission.
