I took my TR3A front brake rotors in to be turned today, but they said
they have to have the factory specs before they can turn them. I couldn't find
the minimum thickness specifications in either the Haynes or the Bentley
manual. The rotors have a bunch of crud caked on in the middle and perhaps I
can find a spec stamped there. I came straight from the brake shop to work and
haven't had a chance to clean up the back of the rotors to check.
Can someone tell me the minimum spec for the brake rotors? Or perhaps the
original starting thickness? I believe that the Bentley manual says that you
can go .06 below that. Can someone tell me where to find it in a manual or on
the net? I might need that to prove it to the brake guys that claim that it is
a DOT requirement to know.
The rotors mike out at .465 and .475. It sure looks like there is a lot of
meat left.
TIA.
