Rick, in addition to new plug wires (again) as Ashford suggested, I would
also return the plugs to the stock .025" gap. The wider gap allows a higher
system voltage, which can break down other components like caps, rotors and
wires.
Once you have everything running right, you can try opening the gap back up
to see if it makes any improvement. I'd work in smaller increments, and run
a tank of gas to check mileage between plug changes tho, as I think you will
find that .035" is too big.
I'm also curious about your statement that you're running a "stock 12v
coil". The original coil for your car would have required an external
ballast resistor (hence the ballast resistor built into the wiring harness),
and thus should have a ballast resistor when used with a Pertronix.
BTW, replacement coils are at least sometimes marked "12V external ballast
required" (I have one on my TR3A), so the '12V' designation does not
necessarily tell you if the coil requires an external ballast or not.
