Try as I might, I was not able to keep the smoke from esaping from my
electrical system. In this case, the smoke escaped from the starter motor (
I'm bringing it in for rebuild tomorrow). Luckily, Triumph put little faith
in the ability of Lucas to build a dependable starter and included a starting
crank as standard equipment. The car has only 25 miles on it and I had to
resort to the dreaded hand crank start ( I can't believe it worked!).
Another casulty in the debugging shakedown is the brake light switch, which
is now always on. This may be a local NAPA item, I hope! Luckily my
temporary plates are good thru May 22 as Connecticut will not let you renew a
temporary plate before inspection.
Hopefully I can get everything fixed by Tuesday as I have an inspection
appointment at 8:30 Wednesday morning.
