FWIW -- your insurance agent should be able to suspend all coverages except
comprehensive (fire, theft, etc) until you are ready to put the car on the road
again. Then, BEFORE you drive it, call and reinstate the other coverages
(collision, liability, etc).
I used to do this every winter when I lived in a climate that precluded driving
the TR for 5 months of the year. Saved quite a bit of money -- probably spent
it all on parts.
