Jim, you were wise to shut it down.
i am no expert, but someone has mentioned running a drill in the distributor
drive at one time or another (take the distributor out and stick whatever will
fit nicely down in there (without damage!) ). i guess this is direct drive to
the oil pump. i know you will need something to make an adaption to where the
distributor sits. i have a battery operated drill driver and i bet this would
be better than an electric drill. the idea is to 'drive' the oil pump and see
what the pressure guage says without the engine on. perhaps you can do the
same by pulling the oil pan ? and of course, you can pull the coil wire and
just crank the starter. i would drop the oil pan and see whats up. clogged
pick up screen on oil pump ? actual busted pump ? the guys on the list told
me i could look at my rocker arm and see oil 'oozing' from rocker arm when
engine was running. thats all a gt6 does. so the idea there is to look for
oil oozing at the top of your engine (take valve cover off) while cranking oil
pump.
