one of you great guys (i forget at the moment which one) said bonnet locks
were optional on these cars
looks great, all i need to know is, where / how do you mount
them ?
++++++++++
In the ones I have seen, the lock is mounted directly above the bonnet catch
on each side. If you can get a copy of John Thomason's "A Guide to
Originality-Triumph Spitfire and GT6" there is a photograph on page 23. The
accompanying text indicates:
"The bonnet lock was key-operated and turned a lever over the back of the
bonnet catch, preventing it from being lifted. There is some debate as to
the correct position for the lock, whether it should be above or to the side
of the bonnet catch. Triumph only issued one set of fitting instructions and
they were produced for the Herald. The shape of the Herald wing precluded
the bonnet lock from being fitted above the catch, but in the case of the
Spitfire there was space for the lock to be fitted in either position."
