Jack:
Yes, the O-rings seal against the wall. You're probably installing a standard
rebuild kit into an overbored (rebuilt) cylinder. There may be a tag on the
bottom indicating the cylinder is overbored.
Get the oversize kit if you can, but you probably won't find it in stock
anywhere. (Funny, that ...) In which case, you'll have to buy the rebuilt M/C,
something you were trying to avoid.
