I got a few scratches on mine and they told me it needs a full re-chrome.

Check the Harley guys in your area. They always have their chrome done by a
biker chrome shop (where the owner is usually another biker) and the place
that did mine do "concours quality". Mine is now 11 years old (60,000
miles) and I still get 2nd in VTR concours judging for my class.
