I'm in the middle of rebuilding my SU carb, type H-5 it appears from the
Haynes manual. There are 2 rubber grommets that go on either side of the
bolt that holds the float chamber to the carb body. This is the bolt with
the hole that allows the gas to flow into the carb. I had a lot of trouble
with this connection leaking, (main reason I decided to rebuild). Should I
put some gasket compound or anything else on these before reassembling?
Should there be any goop on the gasket between the manifold and the carb?
One more question - how high in the jet head should the jet be? Someone
told me flush, but I can't seem to get it that high.
