Hello fellow listers.

     The day finally arrived that my TR2 (TR3) engine / transmission rebuild 
was complete.  I have struggled and I have made lots of errors along the way. I 
have redone several things to dix those errors.  Last Thursday (10/25) I rented 
a hoist and after considerable struggle (working alone) I did get the engine 
and tranny bolted
back into the car (about 3:00 AM).  I only get an hour here and there to work 
and it was not until Wednesday of this week (10/31) that I finally got to try 
the "new" engine.  It started easily after a little fuel priming and it sounded 
decent except for some tappet noises.  There is a small fuel leak at the fuel 
pump.  (I did not
change a fuel line that had previously been poorly threaded to the pump.  Now I 
have it cross threaded and some new parts are needed.)  This is a minor 
problem.  On shutting down the engine after a few minutes of low rpm running to 
warm it up, when I checked the oil my greatest fears on the project were 
realized.  I have milky oil
which means I have water getting into the oil.  It appears to be a slight leak 
with no noticeable drop in coolant level and no noticeable rise in liquid level 
on the dipstick.  I have been nervous about sealing of figure 8 gaskets with 
the new sleeves, but it could also be a head gasket and possibly a leak in the 
head itself.  (The
head was magna fluxed and found to be ok, but someone had drilled a small hole 
in the aluminum molding casting plug.  I had to have this welded.)
     I have had it (almost)!  If I cannot get the leakage to stop with some 
sealer additives, someone amongst the Triumph world will get a decent old TR2 
at a bargain basement price next spring.  You will get an engine with new 
cylinders, pistons, rings, new cam, lifters all new valves, valve guides, valve 
springs, reground crank,
new rod and main bearings, professionally rebuilt transmission, new clutches, 
etc. etc. etc.
     Does anyone have any suggestions on what I might try at this point?  I 
will change the oil immediately and I thought I might try some type of sealer 
in the coolant.  What type of product would you recommend?  I don't like doing 
that, but neither do I like the thought of pulling the engine and doing all the 
rebuild again.
