Listers,
Well, I am now a certifiable nut case. I bought a used 4-post
hydraulic lift for my TR work. I got a great price on it from the
widow of an MG guy who passed away. It is a Stinger SL model
that is smaller then the standard size and perfect for the TR4
and fitting in the garage. Taking out the OD this winter will be
a lot easier on my body... and I can start taking car of all
those things under the car that are very difficult to do lying on
your back.
I have to dismantle it and move it to my garage. It's about 75
miles away. I have two questions for the wiser ones on the list:
1.) Have any of you heard of a company that rents tough pick-up
trucks. The biggest piece is 9' long and the whole thing weights
a 1000 lbs. It was delivered to the original owner in a Pickup
from the freight depot.
I have a 14' U-haul on reservation... but they are expensive
($.59 a mile), so unreliable about reservations and the equipment
is so bad. I am pick-up impaired and no nothing about these
trucks. What would I want to rent to move this thing.
2.) I have to dismantle the hydraulics and cap the end of the
cables and plug the fittings where I make the breaks. The
instructions refer to the fittings being JIC-6 in size and
sometimes say 3/8" JIC-6. They mate to 3/8 NPT at the cylinder
and the power unit. Does anybody know what the JIC means. It's
new to me. I need to buy some plugs and caps and don't even know
what this stuff means.
TIA
