Thanks for reminding me I need to order a spare ! I pulled apart an
original pump from the parts bin (still has AC stamped on the diaphragm,
but it's no good). It has the plunger attached to the side with the
smaller plate.
If the spring gets out of place, it could jam between the plate and the
pump body. I think I'd find another diaphragm.
