I used aircraft stripper on the paint. This made the three layers of red,
primer and original blue peel right off. The only drawback is that if
someone had done some great bodywork and hidden a dent or two you didn't
notice, then the bondo has to come off too as the stripper is absorbed by
the bondo and will do the same to your new paint. This did take it to bare
sheet metal in a hurry. As I was finishing the stripper application, the
paint was sliding off the car. I then wet sanded and dried in a hurry to
stop rust as it is completely bare. Hit the large rust holes with a
grinder.

Hi Triumph freaks!

This weekend I'll be starting to strip down my Triumph Spitfire 1500 in
order to cut away the rust and eventually repaint the car (these two things
will be done by my bodywork specialist).

I am shure I am not the first one who strips his car for this, so I am
wondering if somebody can give me a few tips on where to start and how I
should work in order to get the car back together once I got I back. Advise
like this would be very welcome, because its the first time I'll be doing
this.

The plan is to remove the interior and all parts attached to the body of
the car. I have no plans to remove the engine (yet). I won't be doing the
bodywork itsself.

Does someone know a good bodywork website (on how to sandblast etc).

Thanks in advance!

Greetz,
Wim.
