Paul-
Glad you got it stopped in one piece(relatively)

The parts called "Trunnions" are at the lower end of the spindle assembly. I
don't know if the design on the TRs is the same as the Herald/Spitfire
line... A ball joint per se, is literally that- a ball in a housing, with a
stud sticking up, to which the spindle assembly bolts, secured with a nut. A
trunnion, however is entirely different- it is a cast internally threaded
housing, attached to the lower control arm. The spindle itself has a
threaded base which threads into the trunnion piece. Two pieces, with a
seal, as opposed to the movable ball in housing, spindle, nut, and usually,
cotter pin.

Now, if you have broken out a ball joint, well that can be relatively easy,
providing the lower control arm and spindle themselves are ok. If you have
snapped a spindle in a trunnion, then you have a whole nother duck to stew.
You will end up basically rebuilding at least that side, as the spindle will
need replacement entirely. (If the trunnion itself shattered, then it is not
so bad. Just have to replace it)

Good luck with it,
Scott
