Phil,

Sounds like a clutch release problem, not a problem with the clutch
(pressure plate & disk).

Most likely areas are clutch hydraulics (you didn't mention slave cylinder
in rebuild) or broken clutch fork pin (professional may have over tightened
it).

Does the "professional" give a warranty?
